During his visit to New York for the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta will host a reception for the Kenyan Diaspora on Thursday 25 September, 2014 at 6.00 p.m.

President Kibaki Bids Goodbye to the Kenyan Diaspora in New York

During the UN General Assembly, H. E President Mwai Kibaki made time to host a special event for the Kenyan Diaspora in New York. During this event, as he bid good bye to the Kenyan Diaspora, he advised them to take up opportunities emerging from the recent infrastructural, technological developments in Kenya and invest heavily.

The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade

The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade under the theme “Forever free – Celebrating Emancipation”, was held on March 25th, 2013. This was the climax of a week-long of commemorative activities which included an NGO briefing, a global student videoconference, film Screening (Lincoln), a cultural and culinary evening and a concert graced by various celebrities, at which the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon was a key note speaker.

Kenya’s voice, as always, remained a central pillar in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women, during the session. Kenya was actively involved in consultations held among member states of the African Group to develop a common position to negotiate the outcome document.

President Kibaki Addresses the 67th United Nations General Assembly

In his farewell address as Head of State, H. E the President Hon. Mwai Kibaki addressed Heads of State and Government during the 67th United Nations General Assembly 2012 in New York where he affirmed his support for the theme of the 67th General Assembly, “The Settlement of International Disputes or Situations by Peaceful Means.” He noted that this theme spoke to Kenya’s achievements over the previous ten years which had been built on the bedrock of peaceful resolution of disputes. It is towards this end that Kenya’s own wellbeing and prosperity is hinged on sustained peace, security, stability and inclusive democracy in our region, said the President.

Kenya Diaspora Conference in the USA

The Kenya Embassy in Washington D.C., in collaboration with Kenya Diaspora in the USA, will host a Diaspora Conference in Washington DC on 8th – 9th October, 2011.
