The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade under the theme “Forever free – Celebrating Emancipation”, was held on March 25th, 2013. This was the climax of a week-long of commemorative activities which included an NGO briefing, a global student videoconference, film Screening (Lincoln), a cultural and culinary evening and a concert graced by various celebrities, at which the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon was a key note speaker.

President Kibaki Addresses the 67th United Nations General Assembly

In his farewell address as Head of State, H. E the President Hon. Mwai Kibaki addressed Heads of State and Government during the 67th United Nations General Assembly 2012 in New York where he affirmed his support for the theme of the 67th General Assembly, “The Settlement of International Disputes or Situations by Peaceful Means.” He noted that this theme spoke to Kenya’s achievements over the previous ten years which had been built on the bedrock of peaceful resolution of disputes. It is towards this end that Kenya’s own wellbeing and prosperity is hinged on sustained peace, security, stability and inclusive democracy in our region, said the President.

Kenya Diaspora Conference in the USA

The Kenya Embassy in Washington D.C., in collaboration with Kenya Diaspora in the USA, will host a Diaspora Conference in Washington DC on 8th – 9th October, 2011.
