Visit By The Senate Delegation to the United Nations headquarters

Hon. Senator Ekwee Ethuro, EGH, MP, Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kenya led a strong delegation of Senators on a visit the United Nations Headquarters New York, USA. The Senate Delegation comprised the following: Senator Beatrice Elachi, Majority Chief Whip; Senator Mike Gideon Mbuvi, Deputy Majority Chief Whip; Senator Janet Ong’era, Deputy Minority Chief Whip; Senator Bellow Kerrow,Chair, Committee on Finance, Commerce and Economic Affairs; and Senator Fatuma Dullo, Vice-Chair, Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations.

The Visit Of Chief Of Kenya Defence Forces To The UN Headquarters New York From 06 – 09 May 2014

Gen Julius Karangi’s visit to New York was opportune to exchange views on the current security situation in the Horn, East Africa and Great Lakes region and peacekeeping operations. While in New York, the CDF held a number of highly profile meetings, including with the staff of the Kenya Mission, key leaders at the UN Hqs and a speaking engagement at Columbia University.

This Third Issue of our E-Newsletter covers the period, January to March 2014; albeit the highlights only. 2014 begun with a bang. The first day of work was also, the opening day of a weeklong session of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where our PR, Amb. Macharia Kamau and the PR of the Republic of Hungary are Co-chairs of an intergovernmental process designing SDGs.

Kenya's Permanent Representative Elected UNICEF President

Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Macharia Kamau has been elected as the new President of the Agency's Children Fund. The Ambassador will serve in the new capacity for a period of one year.

“Kenya’s Voice at the United Nations- 50 Years” was recently presented to the Kenya Mission by the Dag Hammarskjöld Library team. Their site repackages all speeches given by the Presidents, Vice Presidents, the Prime Ministers and  Foreign Affairs Ministers at the United Nations  General Assembly.  Selected speeches delivered at the Security Council are included. Here are but a few highlights.

Second Project Proposal

Thank you for the opportunity to update and improve the Kenya Mission website. Over the past few weeks, we have been working on updating the content on the site as well as several key improvements to make the site easier to use and more informative.
