Kenya’s Voice at the United Nations - 50 Years

“Kenya’s Voice at the United Nations- 50 Years” was recently presented to the Kenya Mission by the Dag Hammarskjöld Library team. Their site repackages all speeches given by the Presidents, Vice Presidents, the Prime Ministers and  Foreign Affairs Ministers at the United Nations  General Assembly.  Selected speeches delivered at the Security Council are included. Here are but a few highlights.

Mission Staff

Through diplomacy, negotiation, lobbying and daily monitoring of UN activities, the Mission’s main objective is to advance Kenya’s interests at the United Nations in critical areas namely: political, economic and social as well as legal, military, public diplomacy and management interests.

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.

Kenya Mission to the United Nations New York

The Kenya Mission to the United Nations serves as the Kenya delegation to the United Nations. Through diplomacy, negotiation, lobbying and daily monitoring of UN activities, the Mission’s main objective is to advance Kenya’s interests at the United Nations in critical areas namely: political, economic and social as well as legal, military, public diplomacy and management interests.

Third Committee Work

The Third Committee deals with the following thematic areas: Human Rights, Social Issues (such as Poverty, the Youth, Children, Gender, Persons with Disabilities, Refugees) and Humanitarian Affairs. All these themes are important to Kenya as evidenced by their inclusion in Kenya’s Constitution. The Third Committee Team continues to champion issues within these thematic areas through engagement in interactive debates, negotiations of resolutions and actively participating in events organized to advance these interests.

Service Charter

This Service Charter is a response to the Ministry’s requirement that all its Missions and departments/divisions that provide services to the public should develop individual sub- charters based on the Ministry’s Charter. The Ministry’s Charter highlights the Ministry’s objectives functions and expectations of customers.
