Application for a New Kenyan Passport

Pursuant to section 27(1) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011 as read with section 12 of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulation 2012, legal notice No. 64, all applicants are required to complete Form 19 as the Kenya Passport application form set out in the first schedule of the Regulations.

After you download, print, complete and sign the application, mail it to the Kenyan Consulate in New York. After reading the Requirements below, please follow the "Form 19" link to download the application form. If you have had a passport for 10 years from the date of issue it cannot be renewed. You are required to apply for a new passport. You may apply for a new passport 6 months before expiry.

Public Notice: Passport Update

Passports are not renewable after five years. Anybody whose passport has thus expired should apply for a replacement with a new passport.

Anyone who wishes to do a name change either through marriage, divorce or voluntarily should also apply for a new passport at the Consulate and attach documentary evidence of the name change e.g. M.Cert, divorce decree or deed poll.

Fees

The Consulate General of Kenya wishes to inform Kenyans that passports fees are as follows:

  • 32 Page Passport US $120

Please send a Money Order or Cashiers Check payable to Kenya Consulate. Do not staple check/money order onto document.

New Passport Requirements

  • Form 19 fully completed and signed
  • Original Kenyan Passport and
  • Two(2) copies of Kenyan Passport (Bio Data pages only)
  • Attach three(3) recent passport size photos with the following features
    1. They should be clear with all facial features clearly outlined.
    2. Photos should show the full face and ears.
    3. Phones should be taken against a white background
    4. The size of the face should be 2 inches by 2 inches.
    5. Weaves and hair should not cover the forehead or the rest of the face.
    6. Decent photos - ladies should not be wearing strappy or strapless tops.
    7. Photos should be without shadows in the background.
    8. The applicant should not be smiling or laughing.
    9. Photos should be taken without spectacles.
  • A copy of your birth certificate showing both sides
  • Fee of US$120 for a 32 page passport. Money Order/Cashiers Check payable to the Kenya Consulate. (Do not staple check/money order onto document)
